Event Info

New Orleans isn’t just a place. It’s a state of mind.

We invite you to celebrate with us in the city we love! Our wedding will incorporate our favorite elements of New Orleans culture, including live music and performances, costume attire, and a second line through the streets of the 9th Ward. Be sure to wear your walking/dancing shoes!

All ages are welcome and we encourage you to bring the whole family.

This is an inclusive event that celebrates the diversity of our community.

Where

The Musicbox Village

4557 N Rampart St.
New Orleans, LA 70117

Located in the heart of the 9th Ward, the Music Box Village is the New Orleans Airlift's ongoing experiment in "musical architecture". With 16+ "musical houses" to date, the outdoor sonic sculpture garden is both an interactive art-site and a performance platform for one-of-a-kind concerts, artist residencies, and interdisciplinary works.

The venue has a large parking lot for those who choose to drive.

More About The Venue +

Attire

Dress to impress in the boogie bayou!

Swamp-themed costumes and psychedelic attire are highly encouraged.

Want to dress like a swamp princess? Hell yeah. Space gator? Give us more!

But we’re not here to judge. Wear whatever makes your heart sing.

Just be thoughtful about your footwear. The ground at the venue is mostly gravel and the 9th Ward terrain will be a bit treacherous as we second line. Wear comfortable shoes!

Want to get weird but not sure where to start?

Search on Etsy! There are hundreds of artists selling headdresses, wigs, capes, crowns, and any other costume accessory you can think of.

Or visit one of these amazing costume shops when you get into town!

Food and Drink

We will be hosting a New Orleans-style cocktail reception. Small plates will be available from buffet tables, passed platters, and serving windows in place of a seated dinner service.

Full open bar will be available for guests 21 and up.

Schedule of Events

Thursday - March 27, 2025

Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet : 10pm @ Vaughn’s Lounge (4229 Dauphine St.)

Corey Henry and his band play every Thursday at this classic New Orleans venue. It’s one of the best local music experiences in town—and was the backdrop the night Alex and Tegan first met. Please join us in a place we hold dear to our hearts for a night of fun.

*This event is 21 +. This is a CASH ONLY BAR. Bring cash for the door cover ($20) and drinks at the bar. There is an ATM onsite, as well as free red beans and rice.

Friday - March 28, 2025

Meet & Greet ft. Mama Mississippi: 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. @ Woldenberg Park

Grab a drink and come hang by the river! There are no bars/food stands in the park, but you can get to-go drinks from any bar or liquor store in the French Quarter. Sidney’s on Decatur is an excellent option for beers and such. Rouses on Royal is an easy place to grab snacks.

You’ll find us near the Riverwalk Gazebo, just upriver from the Steamboat Natchez. Follow the music! We’ll have some blankets and chairs to sit on, but feel free to bring extra if you have them. There are plenty of benches nearby, as well. We just want to dance and visit with whoever is around Friday afternoon.

After-dinner drinks: 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. @ The Carousel Bar in The Hotel Monteleone (214 Royal St.)

Everyone who comes to New Orleans should see The Carousel Bar! Take a spin if you can get a seat.

We do not have any tables reserved, but there should be room to hang out near the second bar in the back of the hotel lounge. The lobby of the Hotel Monteleone is large and has lots of couches, so we can spill into that area if the bar is too crowded.

Saturday - March 29, 2025

Wedding Ceremony and Reception: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. @ The Music Box Village (4557 N. Rampart St.)

Cart Roll: 10 p.m. - sometime after midnight. Ends @ Kajun’s (2256 St. Claude Ave.)

We will depart the wedding venue and stop at the following bars on the way to Kajun’s.

We know some people will need to step out to tuck in the kids or just have a rest. So, we will include a QR code on the wedding program that will allow you to find us along the route at any time!

Sunday - March 30, 2025

Congo Square Rhythms Festival: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. @ Louis Armstrong Park (701 N. Rampart St.)

This outdoor event is a great opportunity for you to experience some real New Orleans culture! It is a free festival (though donations are nice) that celebrates “the long heritage of what is known as the oldest neighborhood of free African Americans in the United States.” It features local music, artists, and food vendors, giving you a taste of all the great stuff New Orleans has to offer.

Louis Armstrong Park is huge, so we will find a place away from the crowd to set up some chairs and blankets. If you walk into the park from Rampart St., there is a hill to the right (opposite Congo Square). We will plan to set up on the far side of the hill, closer to the pond. We will set up our Sea Shepard flag to help people find us.

Look for this flag at the festival to find us!
